Hi Scrappleheads,

It's great to be a part of this group for local musicians!

I played through the 80's with Hyde Your Daughters, Pep Boys and a few others quit to pursue my kiting carreer and travel in 1991. Started back up again in 2004 first with Wild Goose Chase, then joined the original band Lucid Dreamers and played a lot of open mic nights. Joined Kodiak in 2006 and that lasted 3 years, played with Yvon from B Tropical for a while and then in June of 2009, I was asked to join the hard working band featuring the best guitar player and entertainer along with rock steady bassist John, I had to say yes. Bob Noble & The Blue Voodoo Band. We are now playing every Thurs, Friday and Sat. And if that isnt enough, just joined up with my old friend Yvon again to co host open mic nights every Wed at Ruby Jades in york.

we can't make members come out and support bands. There are many bands here I have never seen. But, playing 3-4 nights a week is no excuse. I try my best to go out. I don't expect or want to "sit in" I'm in a band, I play enough. But will if asked like yesterday when I stopped in at Moondancers to support Megan's band, Andrew asked me to sit in for a few songs with my Cajon, so I did, but I didnt go there for that, I just went to support them and live music. They sounded great and it was nice to play outside in a t-shirt! They had a really nice turn out of people, a beautiful day. I was only there for a short time because I had other commitments, but I made it a point to go out and support them.

Lots of valid points, Dodd. Let me try to fix that...at least on Scrapplehead. I'll be doing some more updates and slight re-designs. I don't want this place to be just about Open Mics. That was never the intent.

I totally understand Shane. We all have lives and things to do. But Supporting live music seems to be only about supporting and promoting open mic nights. If we would have had an open mic night instead of a performance , we would have seen alot of people and support from Scrapplehead members, Rural Radio and those who attend open mic nights at Ruby Jades, First Cap and Victors. Didnt see any of you last night.

Going to an open mic to perform is not supporting live music IMO per say, it is simply about showing up to play, network, or be seen. I must say thanks to our friends from Shanks open mic who came out last night who didnt expect to play, although we did invite Michael, who sang her butt off, but they came out to show their support, see a good band and have fun with us. Having said that, I like Amy's idea, I will talk to the band about inviting song writers/performers to come out and play during our breaks. Great Idea amy. That way it gives some a reason to come out, and maybe even bring some of thier friends too. Good for everyone. Best Wishes. Dodd

I wish I could get out to gigs like yours last night. Family stuff keeps me at home 6 nights a week. I miss so many concerts and events. Luckily, my oldest son is now 8 (and a drummer), so I try to go out with him to kid-friendly shows when possible.

yeah, any paying gig is a good gig. We did our best to keep things quiet out front. It did get a little boring after a while. You know how hard it is to play Little Red Rooster in a soft-rock tone? :) I talked to Donnie after wards. He said that he'd like to bring me back for a louder show in the back. It's all good.

You bet your ass I'm crankin my amp a little at the First Cap tonight. I feel all pent up!!!

BTW, you guys do a KICKASS Dolly Dagger!
